Arizona Faith Leaders Pray For Patience During The Election Process
Valley faith leaders are asking for patience and prayer as the final votes are tallied in the general election.
Community leaders from Arizona held a virtual interfaith prayer service Thursday evening to celebrate successful voter engagement and mobilization of local organizations.
Alicia Contreras from Corazon Arizona encouraged participants on a Zoom call to allow the election process to run its course.
“We know that even amidst a pandemic, our community showed up in record numbers and so that’s going to take time," Contreras said. "But many of you here we are willing to wait, because we want to have an accurate count.”
Contreras urged support for the secretary of state and county recorders who she said are working under increased pressure as several races remain too close to call.
The faith leaders asked for protection for election workers as they continue counting ballots in Maricopa County and around the country.
