Cindy McCain has been a vocal supporter of former Vice President Joe Biden ahead of Tuesday’s presidential election. In an interview with The 19th, a nonprofit news organization based in Texas, she could not say with any certainty that Arizona as a whole would support the Democrat. But she did predict a change in her party whatever the result may be, due in part to younger, more moderate voters becoming more active.

McCain told The 19th she feels left behind by her party under President Donald Trump. She predicted the GOP would move back to the center after this election, though — and again make room for more moderate Republican women like her.

“It’s left so many of us behind. And as a Republican - I want to remain a Republican," she said during the live Q&A. "But I believe the pendulum is going to swing back, and we’ll see a new Republican Party down the line. At least, I hope so.”

McCain has endorsed Biden — a moderate Democrat and close friend of her late husband, Sen. John McCain — despite her party preference; she said she is still a registered Republican and intends to stay that way.

She said women want and deserve a president who puts country over party, like the late Sen. McCain did, and who tells them the truth — even if they don’t like it.
