Many parts of the Southwest would not be able to meet their food needs just from food grown within 155 miles.

That’s among the findings of new research, which looked at whether more than 370 metro areas across the country could grow all the food they’d need locally.

Christian Peters is the senior author of this paper. He’s an associate professor at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University, where he researches food systems. The Show spoke with him about his findings.
