Talks are expected to continue Oct. 1 between Congressional Democratic leaders and the Trump administration over a new economic stimulus package.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said her chamber would hold off on voting on a more than $2 trillion proposal that does not have Republican support, in the hopes of finding bipartisan compromise. One of the provisions Democrats want in the package is money for election security.

And some like Liz Howard argue that should be a critical piece of any deal.

Howard is senior counsel at the Brennan Center for Justice, where she’s a member of the Election Security Team. She and a colleague have written about the importance of states and other jurisdictions getting this money for elections. The Show spoke with her about what some of their biggest needs are right now.
