Arizona State University officials are reminding students that the college’s health policies also extend to off-campus parties. ASU officials sent the reminder out after they were notified of a so-called COVID party that discourages mask use circulated online.

ASU officials are relying on a campus Code of Conduct that states activities posing a threat to the university community can be dealt with by the school. A university spokesman said that rule is being applied during the pandemic.

The ASU Coronavirus Parties Instagram account, which currently has 616 followers, has been posting frequently since July 19. Those running the account say they plan to throw their party at the beginning of ASU’s fall semester.

The people managing the account declined to be identified. A spokesperson for the university said in an email that students can be held accountable for posting false information online.
