As the health care system has re-centered around COVID-19, many other parts of it have been delayed.

That includes primary care and regular checkups, clinical trials and some transplants.

Dr. Michael Fallon is the director of internal medicine at Banner University Medical Center, and he’s also a gastroenterologist. One of his main focus areas is on transplants, particularly for liver disease.

The Show spoke with him to learn how COVID-19 has impacted those kinds of procedures and what surgeries have been considered essential at his hospital in accordance with the governor’s orders.
