'Mandemic': Inventing New Words To Capture The Moment

New words are constantly popping up in our vernacular, usually reflecting societal changes or trends. A recent piece posted on TheLily.com focuses on terms that try to describe situations women are most likely to go through — whether it be in the workplace or personal situations. They fall in the realm of words like ‘mansplaining’ or ‘manspreading.’

The Show spoke with Cindi SturtzSreetharan, a linguist at ASU, about how much new words — and the evolution of language — help us understand more about what’s happening in our world.
