Diné College on the Navajo Nation wants to open a law school. It would be the first of its kind and an important step in working to fill the need for Native American lawyers in the country — in tribal courts and elsewhere.

Ann Marie Bledsoe-Downes is Director of the Indian Gaming and Tribal Self-Governance programs at ASU’s law school. She’s the former president of Little Priest Tribal College in Nebraska, where she is an enrolled member of the Winnebago Tribe.

She spoke to The Show about the reasons behind the new school.
