It’s only a few weeks into the school year and protests have already broken out on the University of Arizona’s campus.

The case of two white students who are accused of verbally and physically assaulting a black student on campus last month is making waves.

The white students yelled the N-word at the black student and attacked him, jumping on him and knocking him to the ground, and then kicking and punching him repeatedly, according to a case report released by the university’s police department.

The students were referred to the university’s Diversion Program, a move that outraged many on campus.

The Show spoke with Vanessa Ontiveros, who has been covering the story as it unfolds on UA’s campus. She’s the news editor for the Daily Wildcat and a junior at the UA.
