You No Longer Have Mail: Saying Goodbye To AOL Instant Messenger

It may be difficult to believe, but there was a time before instant messaging. And, then America Online started allowing all of us to communicate with people next to us without even having to talk to them — through AOL Instant Messager, or AIM.

Now, the company has announced it’s shutting down the 20-year old program, and The Show’s Mark Brodie is here with more on this.

My family actually used to have AOL, although we weren’t high-tech enough to use instant messaging.

But Retha Hill has used it. She’s the executive director of the New Media, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Lab at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at ASU.
