Columnist Concerned About Phoenix Sheraton Deal To Sell To Private Operators

One of the issues that current Phoenix City Council members have had to deal with is what to do with downtown Phoenix’s Sheraton Hotel.

It was built during the depths of the Great Recession by the city, and now there’s a deal to sell it to private operators.

In a recent piece, longtime Arizona Republic columnist Laurie Roberts expressed concern about the agreement — primarily what she saw as the city’s positive spin on a money-loser. We spoke with Roberts about her opinion piece.
