What Impact Will Trump's $300 Million Budget Cut To Firefighting Have?

The Trump administration’s proposed budget calls for up to $300 million in budget cuts for wildland firefighting.

During the current fire season, Arizona has already been hit by the destructive force of the Goodwin Fire and other blazes. And areas of California are seeing flames cut through brush and force a number of evacuations.

To learn more about the potential impact of the budget cuts, we spoke with Roxanne Warneke-Preston — widow of Billy Warneke, who died fighting the Yarnell Hill Fire — and Scott Somers, professor in ASU’s College of Public Service and Community Solutions.
