After President-Elect Donald Trump called Hillary Clinton a “nasty woman” during one of the debates leading up to Election Day, the phrase started to take on a new meaning.

Soon enough, Internet memes, sunglasses and T-shirts printed with the phrase showed women nationwide turning the phrase around and taking ownership of it.

And now, artists in the Valley and across the country are joining in. The art show Nasty Women: Phoenix Unite opens tomorrow at Grand Arthaus in Phoenix.

The artists who put this together opened it up to anyone of any persuasion who supports their mission to support those who face threats of rolling back women’s rights, LGBTQ rights and immigrant rights that they think could come with the Trump administration.

One of the organizers, Meredith Drum, basically said that if your submission fit into a 12-by-12-by-12 box, you’re in.

 All of the art is being donated and you can buy it. The pieces are priced between $10 to $100 with proceeds being donated to Planned Parenthood of Arizona, which they’re afraid will face funding cuts under the new administration.

And this isn’t the only exhibition like this. This all started with a few artists in New York who put out a call during the election to Nasty Women artists who wanted to put together a show. There are shows happening all over the country from Lubbock, Texas, to San Diego. And there are even a few around the world.
