The Arizona Board of Education yesterday approved new statewide standards for math and English. They’ll replace the Common Core standards, known here as Arizona College and Career Ready.

Joining me to talk about what’s in the new standards is Janice Mak. Mak, the teacher representative on the Arizona Board of Education, explains what it is about these new standards that she thinks will be better for students in the state than what’s currently in place.
