Phoenix Officer Paul Rutherford was killed March 21, 2019.
Phoenix police is mourning the loss of one of their officers.
Officer Paul Rutherford was investigating a traffic accident on Thursday when he was hit by a motorist while crossing Indian School Road. He died later in a hospital.
Gov. Doug Ducey ordered that flags at all state buildings be lowered to half-staff on Friday to honor Officer Rutherford.
