Arizona's Water Use Has Remained The Same Since The 1950s

A lot has changed about Arizona since the mid 1950s. But, one thing has not: the amount of water used.

It hasn’t been a straight line, but we’re basically using the same amount of water now as in 1957. You know, when Ike was president, “Cat in the Hat” was published and Elvis bought Graceland.

Michael Lacey is the Director of the Arizona Department of Water Resources and said the Groundwater Management Act of 1980 has ratcheted up conservation efforts every decade and has gotten Arizonans thinking about how much water they’re using.
