Images of polar bears stranded on cracking glaciers or indigenous communities being affected by climate change aren’t hard to find. Some of those photographs from around the world were taken by Cristina Mittermeier.

The Mexican-born photographer and marine biologist is the co-founder of Sea Legacy, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the ocean.

Cristina Mittermeier spent time with the Kayapó people in the Amazon whose way of life is threatened by a massive new dam.

She is the latest speaker in the "National Geographic Live" series at Mesa Arts Center.

Her presentation Wednesday evening is "Standing at the Water’s Edge," and she joined The Show to talk about it.
