Wage For U.S. Workers Continue To Stagnate Despite Job Growth

Employment numbers have been relatively strong in the United States through the Obama and Trump administrations. And earlier this month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released figures showing the number of job openings has climbed to more than seven million.

But while wage growth showed some promise in this morning’s jobs report, it continues to be low, and has essentially zeroed out under inflation-adjusted numbers. Why is that and what can be done to change it?

To talk about that, Jay Shambaugh, director of the Hamilton Project at the Brookings Institution, joined The Show.
