Why The Movie 'Eighth Grade' Got An R Rating

The coming-of-age movie “Eighth Grade” can now be seen by actual eighth-graders.

Wednesday night at Harkins’ Camelview in Scottsdale, the film’s distributor, A24, will be holding a free screening of the film so anyone can see it. The company is holding screenings in theaters in every state across the country.

Eighth-graders might not be able to otherwise because of its R rating.

The Show’s resident film critic and producer, Kaely Monahan, talked about why the acclaimed Sundance film got an R rating.
