The Ferguson Fire in California on July 18, 2018.

There are 18 wildfires currently burning in California.

Eight lives have been lost, over 200,000 acres of land have been burned and over 15,000 people have been placed under mandatory evacuation. With so many wildfires burning throughout the state, firefighters and supplies are being pushed to their limits.

It used to be that we’d talk about the impact of fire seasons, but today, it’s more like fire years.

Lynne Tolmachoff is the chief of public education for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or Cal Fire, and she joined The Show to talk about it.
