Lives On The Line: How Suicide Hotlines Train Their Staff
The latest figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show an increase in suicide rates in recent decades. At the same time, USA Today reports that the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline saw calls double from 2014 to 2017.
More than 2 million calls came into the lifeline in 2017 alone, and here in Arizona, the trend is the same.
The Show sat down with Beth Brady from the Arizona Crisis Response Network to talk more about that rise in calls, and how they train their specialists to take these sometimes life-saving calls.
