They are words that strike fear into the heart of every Arizona:  

"I mean, there’s really no relief in the state of Arizona. It’s going be hot everywhere," said Travis Wilson, a National Weather Service Meteorologist in Phoenix.

He says we’ll see the summer heat ramp up with intensity this week. The current record on Tuesday for Phoenix is 116, and we’re currently forecasting 117, which means we may break that record.

Phoenix Fire Capt. Jake Van Hook is also anxiously watching the thermometer rise.

Last year in Maricopa County, heat-related illnesses like stroke and heat exhaustion killed 115 people, and he’s here to explain what the city and the fire department are doing to get the word out about heat safety.
