'America In Color' Re-Imagines U.S. History With Colorized Footage
U.S. history didn’t begin with the age of color in our films and on our television shows, though sometimes it may seem that way.
But significant events like elections, attacks and huge moments in pop culture that occurred prior to the 1960s are often seen — and locked into our memories — in black and white.
A new series on the Smithsonian Channel called "America in Color" re-imagines decades of U.S. history, from the 1920s through the '60s, with colorized footage.
Nick Metcalfe, executive producer for Arrow Media, which put together America in Color with Composite Films, joined us to talk about the series.
