The annual KidsCount Data Book from the Annie E. Casey Foundation shows Arizona with some areas of improvement, but overall conditions for kids here are still 46th in the country.

Over the course of 16 different indicators, Arizona is doing better than many states in child and teen death rates, but worse than almost every other state in the number of children living in high-poverty areas.

Children’s advocacy groups are worried the overarching numbers could actually get worse, depending upon the direction of health-care reform in Congress.

To talk about the latest numbers, we spoke with Dana Naimark, president of Children’s Action Alliance.
