Climate Matters Changing Local TV Stations' Weather Forecasts

Weather forecasts are often at the centerpiece of a local television station’s newscast.

But over the years, the focus has mostly been on current temperatures, record highs and the seven or even 10-day forecast.

That is gradually changing at hundreds of stations across the country, thanks to a program called Climate Matters. It aims to look at the connection between climate change and local weather forecasts.

To learn more, we spoke with Bernadette Woods Placky, chief meteorologist for Climate Central. She directs the Climate Matters program.
