New Direction, Mission Emerge For Phoenix Art Museum
The Phoenix Art Museum has undergone some dramatic changes in leadership over the past couple of years.
Amada Cruz succeeded Jim Ballinger as the museum’s director, after Ballinger had spent four decades and took part in its dramatic growth.
A new direction has emerged, one that is focused on bringing in a more diverse and younger audience. And the museum is fresh off a recent exhibition featuring the work of painter Kehinde Wiley, which is considered one of the most successful exhibitions the museum has ever hosted.
To learn more about that exhibition’s impact and the museum’s overall mission, we spoke with chief curator Gilbert Vicario and Nikki Deleon, director of marketing and communications.
