U.S. presidents have changed how they’ve communicated with the public over the decades, in part because of how technology has been modified and used differently.

Franklin Roosevelt used to give his fireside chats for radio listeners, while President Trump has made Twitter his go-to medium.

How groundbreaking could this turn out to be?

We spoke with Tim Groeling, chair of the Department of Communication Studies at UCLA. He researches political communication and new media.

We also checked in with programmer Brendan Brown, who decided to document Trump’s 33,000 tweets by creating the Trump Twitter Archive.
