Number Of Arizona Flu Cases Steadily Increasing
The number of flu cases in Arizona is on the rise. There have been almost 900 reported cases across the state since flu season began in late October.
Branch Chief for Public Health Preparedness Jessica Rigler, with the Arizona Department of Health Services, said the number might seem low, but there is still a few more months until the typical peak flu season.
“We’re tracking a little bit ahead of where we were last year. So, more people have been reported to have the flu this year, compared to the same time last year," she said.
Rigler said the numbers are only indicative of the number of people who received laboratory-test confirmation that they have the flu. And not everyone who is sick will visit the doctor.
She does said that they only thing they know for sure is while the number of flu cases in Arizona is low right now, more cases are to be expected over the next couple of months. Rigler said it’s not too late to get vaccinated.
