The 2016 campaign revealed a populism ... an anger ... that surprised many observers, pundits and political scientists. And it’s led to some strange bedfellows, with traditional progressives and conservatives teaming up.

One of those surprising pairs is William Galston of the Brookings Institution and William Kristol of The Weekly Standard, who had an essay published this week in The Arizona Republic titled "A New Center."

We talked with Galston about his ideas for protecting America’s institutions.
