The Arizona Republican Party tweeted this image of a "Wanted" poster featuring Rep Ann Kirkpatrick.

Many Democrats and supporters of Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick are angry after the Arizona Republican Party delivered a “wanted” poster with bullet hole imagery to her campaign office Thursday.

Matt Specht with the state Republican Party described the old-fashioned wild west poster as “cheeky,” and not violent. But Democrats say the image, with its bullet holes, is tasteless.

"In the kind of environment and in the day in age it’s just something that is pretty despicable and wildly uncalled for," said. D.B Mitchell, Kirkpatrick’s communications director.

Mitchell also referred to former Tucson Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. In 2010, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin posted an image with the crosshairs of a gun sight on Giffords’ district.

Giffords was later shot in the head during an assassination attempt.

Spaect says the poster was only meant to draw attention to the fact that Kirkpatrick has avoided voters by not hosting public events. Kirkpatrick will face off against incumbent John McCain in the upcoming general election.
