If you’re driving through Pima County, put your cell phone down. The county’s distracted driving law goes into effect Friday.
In a unanimous vote, the Pima County Board of Supervisors approved the ordinance banning the use of cell phones while driving last month.
Pima County spokesperson, Courtney Rodriguez said distracted drivers won’t get in too much trouble, at least not right away. “There will be a 30 day grace period for enforcement efforts. And during this grace period, drivers will receive a written warning,” she said.
Following the grace period, those who violate the law could face a $100 fine.
