Some Phoenix playgrounds include more than just swings, slides and monkey bars - a handful have been outfitted with what’s being called “smart playground” games. Phoenix was the first city to do this.

The company behind these games is called Biba, and Matt Toner is its CEO. He said for kids that need an extra incentive to get outside, a video game that links with playground equipment could be the solution.

“We want kids to be more clamoring to go outside to play these games," Toner said.
