More than 2,000 people have made their own instruments at the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery in Phoenix, which is marking its 40th year of teaching what many call the “art” of guitar making.

We visited the school to meet some students and speak with its director William Eaton, who told us about how personal creating an instrument can be.
