Arizona, Mexico Border Program Helps Low-Income People With Disabilities

Relations between Arizona and Mexico get a lot of attention. But in recent years the focus has been on economic and trade issues.

Some of the most intense parts of the connection between the countries, though, come at the ground level - person to person. That’s part of what has driven the success of the Arizona Sonora Border Projects for Inclusion, which makes it possible for low-income people to get wheelchairs and prosthetic parts. Burris Duncan of the University of Arizona's College of Public Health spoke about the program. He is the co-founder of the effort.
