Doctors Address Concerns Over Poverty's Effect On Child Health

Children in poverty are deeply affected by both food deserts and fewer nutritional options. The situation involves a long list of challenges that increase the stress on young brains.
That’s led the American Academy of Pediatrics to urge doctors to ask parents if they’re doing OK financially. Dr. Robin Blitz, director of developmental pediatrics at the Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, spoke about this issue.
