The Multigenerational Effects Of Agent Orange

Concerns about chemical warfare hang over many of the battles currently taking place around the world — including in Syria. But using gases and toxins in warfare is hardly new.

One of the starkest examples comes from Vietnam, where the U.S. sprayed plant-killing chemicals in the effort to destroy crops and eliminate forest cover. One of those chemicals was known as Agent Orange, and exposure to it has affected Vietnam veterans for decades.

We spoke with Chuck Byers, service officer for the Vietnam Veterans of America in Arizona, about some of the multigenerational effects of Agent Orange.
