Arizona Researchers Learn Lessons From Meteor Explosion 3 Years Ago

Three years ago Monday, a meteor exploded about 16 miles above the Siberian city of Chelyabinsk, injuring more than 1,000 people.

Since then, researchers have been working to learn more about that rock, and how to prevent similar events from happening in the future.

Tim Swindle is one of them — he’s the director of the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory at the University of Arizona.
