A report from the Arizona education department’s Educator Retention and Recruitment Task Force said a “severe shortage of effective teachers continues to lead the list of critical issues impacting their work.”

The panel also offers some recommendations to policymakers, parents and community members. Chief among them is paying teachers more.

Erin Hart, chief operating officer for the education group Expect More Arizona, spoke about the report and its recommendations. Hart is also a member of the task force.
