The Phoenix City Council tackled three topics that generated big interest Wednesday: drones, Starbucks' liquor license application and a new city identification card.

Supporters of the card say it could help undocumented immigrants and others who struggle to get a valid government I-D. Opponents say it could wind up costing Phoenix millions. By a 5-4 vote, council members moved the issue forward by inviting companies interested in managing a city identification program to submit ideas.

When it came to Starbucks’ liquor license application, the vote was nearly unanimous, even though the police department was against it. KJZZ’s senior business correspondent, Christina Estes, spoke about the details.
