Kingston tells Santa what he wants for Christmas at a recent visit to Smitholator Cookie Shop.

In the classic holiday movie “A Christmas Story,” all 9-year-old Ralphie wants for Christmas is a BB gun. That was set in the 1940s…today, Santa is taking other types of requests, like robots and self-balancing segways.

St. Nick recently visited Smitholator Cookie Shop, and we stopped by to take a quick “north poll” of what kids are asking for these days.

Shopkins, Littlest Pet Shop, Legends of Chima Legos top the list-- all toys with some type of digital aspect to them, like a TV show based on the toys or technology inside the toys themselves. Imagine Ralphie asking for a BB gun that connects to an Xbox.

Santa is a little busy this time of year to do interviews, so for more on the digitization of toys we turned to Richard Gottlieb, CEO of Global Toy Experts and a toy industry commentator.
