The so-called McDowell Corridor near the corner of Scottsdale Road and McDowell used to be a vibrant part of south Scottsdale. There was retail nearby at Los Arcos Mall and auto dealers lined up along what was known as the Motor Mile. So it’s an understatement to say things slowed down — a lot.

Stepping in to fill the void was SkySong, a mixed-use development that includes big and small businesses and apartments. We talked about SkySong’s emergence as an economic incubator with Chris Krewson of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, a Phoenix-based property sales and leasing firm and Todd Hardy, vice president of Assets for the ASU Foundation, one of SkySong’s partners.
