The Mesa Citrus Growers Association building will soon have a new tenant.

Around this time last year, we took a trip to one of the Valley’s most endangered historic places, the Mesa Citrus Growers Association Building at Broadway and Country Club.

The building closed in 2010, but Wednesday Mesa announced it had found a new tenant: Autoline Industries.

The company manufactures and distributes high-end auto parts and will expand into the building. Construction is expected to start later this spring and will take about a year.

Bill Jabjiniak is Mesa’s economic development director.

But some preservationists think the city could have gotten more value out of the building. Vic Linoff, President of the Mesa Preservation Foundation, is one of them.
