General Hugh Shelton And Former U.S. Intelligence Worker Paul Kinsinger On Attempted Rescue Of Kayla Mueller

Shortly after the news broke earlier this week that Prescott’s Kayla Mueller had, in fact, died while being held by ISIS in Syria, reports started to come out about failed rescue attempts.

General Hugh Shelton, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said when a hostage is taken it’s natural to try to get them back.

Communicating with terrorist groups who have kidnapped aid workers or journalists has changed dramatically, partly because there isn’t the same kind of nation-to-nation conversation that there used to be. Social media is also having a huge impact.

We asked Thunderbird School Professor and former U.S. intelligence worker Paul Kinsinger about that.
