Post-recession America has Arizona in growth mode again. The numbers that came out earlier this year show that Phoenix is No. 1 in the nation for population growth, adding more than 32,000 residents between July 2015 and July 2016. And with new people comes the need for more apartments and houses.

Birdwatchers know it’s possible to see an eagle in the Valley — but if you train your binoculars just right, you might just notice some eagles wearing little backpacks. Salt River Project bought six of these packs, and four eagles have been outfitted with them so far.

Since their introduction around 70 years ago, antibiotics have been used to help most of us recover from illnesses and infectious diseases. But there’s an increasing number of antibiotic-resistant bacteria making the drugs much less effective. And that’s, at least in part, because of how often they’ve been prescribed.

A group of Arizona mayors is calling on Gov. Ducey to make further reforms to the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System, or PSPRS. In addition, an ad hoc committee of the state House of Representatives is holding meetings on the subject. Its next gathering is next week in Prescott.
